Gonna Knock You DOWN

WhatWhat! I don't know about the rest of you, but I am definitely ready for SPRING & SUMMER!
The weather is finallyyy warming up here in Toronto (but my girl in LA was still shocked to find it's about 59F). So that means it's time to slip off the jackets, throw on some shorts and hit the beach!! Ok, ok, let me not get ahead of myself, but here's how I'm going to...

The CLOTHES

We've seen some AMAZING fashion shows the past few months as cities internationally celebrated their respective Fashion Weeks. Here are my absolute favorite looks, most of which are wearable. Let them draw you in and inspire you! Also let's hope these mainstream stores start turning runway into real ways!



Free and flowy yet still sharp. A tailored bohemian if you will. What's an oxymoron to some is clearly a way I describe my fashion taste! Definitely going to look for some of the above looks and use collection such as Emanuel Ungaro and Gucci as idea generators. I love boho rock pieces especially (they speak to me!) so I don't exactly gravitate to bright neons as soon as the sun comes out, instead just creating lighter looks with my structured jeans, studs, and zippers. A little edgy flow!

CELEB INSPIRATIONI know, again with this girl! Trust, I am not into whatever Disney has been putting out lately, much too old for all that, but from what I've seen, this girl has got it style wise. She has a cute hippie style with an edge that may not be unique but is certainly fashionable, simple and wearable.


Of course, where would celeb style inspiration be without some inclusion of the Olsens. I'm not a bandwagon kinda girl (though a little trendy...) so I don't necessarily believe they always look good, but there sure did here. The picture is a little old but Ashley (...?) looks effortless in her cutoff shorts, aviators, and turban style headband (very different than regular ones and shall discuss turbans later). One thing I've really been looking for is a gold watch too, so hard to find!

The DRESSES

Whether long or short, casual or fancy, summertime is the time for dresses!

The ACCESSORIES

This seasons accessories follow the rule: more is more. Big and bold accessories are a must so pile on those bracelets, statement necklaces, and rings that take up a third of your finger! Huge jewelery is really a fun way to finish an outfit, but if your not comfortable, just perhaps do bold shoes and nothing else. Or even four or five bracelets and nothing else.

This belt is a fave for sure, and if I find it (or a lookalike) i am getting it!!
Waist cinching belt are still going strong but unique looking one-of-a-kind pieces definitely stand out and are much more interesting.

Shoes have followed the route of: the higher the better! Platforms were attached to many designer shoes this season and we've already seen them appear in stores such as Le Chateau and Aldo. The poor models!

These shoes have made their way into the closets of many celebrities (didn't Britney even wear them in that new video of hers?) but clearly there is a reason why: they. are. HOT!

Headgear has also appeared seen at Marc Jacobs, Ralph Lauren, Tory Burch, Louis Vuitton, and Gucci. If you don't want to go all the way with the turban look....

Wow, Ralph Lauren. Model girl does not look too happy, but the look is on point! A little excess but gets the point across. Headgear is in. Personally, I want those hipster kinda fedora hats...but more clean a la Emanuel Ungaro or Gucci below.


oooOoo I also really want sunglasses like these at Ralph Lauren, I know Urban Outfitters has a look-a-like I may have to check out. Yes, my consumerism is due to the fact I have personally taken it upon myself to stabilize the economy. Your welcome.

Beauty & Makeup

Makeup wise, I know some of you are going to slap on the brights and praise the heavens bold rainbow colours can now be used, but honestly, nothing beats a clean fresh looking face! It's SIMPLY gorgeous and is not trying to hard. These beauty looks are very light and subdued which are perfect for summer.




And for those times you want to add a but more...

Not so much smokey, but just kohl eyes.

The SWIMSUIT

Ahh, a tres imporant aspect of summer, so thank goodness MANY designers have been focussing on them during their s/s collections. As much as we need clothes and shoe inspiration, we definitly need new creative ways to turn up the basic swimsuit! I don't even mind the unreasonable ones because let's face it, do you actually do much swimming at the beach?? It's about laying out, chatting, eating and all while still looking goood. That's why the following are styled as such!

I shall eat this summer. Man, I love patio season.
I know we're all conscience of shorts weather & swimsuit bodies but stop the diets and
EAT & Enjoy Life!
Now where'd I put that piece of cake...

There are soooo many trends! With clothing, acessorise and makeup. Some are still lingering from other seasons, including feathers, fringe, Alexander Wang (yes, the man's designs have become a trend in itself) and headbands (yawnnn) but there are a few new interesting ones, like 70's inspiration, jumpsuits, and harem pants! Though I did try some from H&M the other day, and let me warn you, they do nothing for your rear. But take notes from Aquilano E Rimondo, DKNY, Jeremy Laing, Yves Saint Laurent, and Elie Tahari and try some on!

Also, the little break we all get from school needs to also be about...

Our GIRLS

Don't even know if these girls are all friends or if these were just photo ops, but they do compliment one another. Get together with your girls and hit the beach, shops, or resturants during the day BUT also dress up and attend a fabulous party in killer heels during the night (crash if necessary!).

Don't forget your crew, have fun, and dress faboulously this summer!
