We dun Shook it Till the Ball DROPPED!

To think, it's almost the end of 2007 and another year has flown by! Tis' MADNESS I tell you! Before we look on to the future, making wish lists of the new things we want and making promises to ourselves we probably won't keep (I swear next year I'm going to the gym every week!), it's fun to look back at the past year. A lot can happen in a year. People change, mature, experiment, make friends and loose friends; And by the end of it, so much has happened we can barely remember what happened in January.
Fashion in the same way. Trends changed with the seasons, designers hit highs and lows, and where the good was, the bad was sure to follow. But there were always a few ladies who kept it fun and classy throughout the year. I thought it would be fun to celebrate the girls who rocked 2007:

LAUREN CONRAD

Okay, I loved season three of the Hills and it aint over! The drama, the boys, the clubhoppin L.A.-lifestyle-of-the-rich-and-famous! It's so fun to watch, but the cherry on top of this 'reality TV' series is the inside look at Teen Vogue (I would gladly live in that closet), and the girls wardrobe! Sure Lauren may have often played it safe, and even messed up her meeting with Marc Jacobs, but compared to her Hills adversaries, this girl always looked good. Her use of solids and California girl laid back charm made her wardrobe one to be envied.

RIHANNA

Wow, what a life changing year this one has had! Four words constantly repeated when talking about her: Good girl gone bad! That's for sure a phrase that will forever be attached this young star. It's attached to her music, and especially to her wardrobe. I love how this year her look was youthful, punk, and very colorful. She loves form fitting leather and satin looks that emphasize her curves and keep the boys lined up (anyone member her fling with Josh Hartnett?!).She definitely has no fear when it comes to fashion! Umbrella-ella-ella eh eh eh! The song of the freakin' year! There's been like a million covers including a recent punk rock version by McFly that I like (the ending is the best part in their version 'ooo baby it's rainIN!')

ZOE KRAVITZ

Let's face it, the name 'Zoe' seems to be the name of the fashion forward, think Zoe Saldana, Rachel Zoe, erm...yeah that's all I can think of. But someone who I started taking notice of this past year is Zoe Kravitz.

Wild child, Zoe Kravitz has a graced magazine covers, including French mag Jalouse, and the 19-year-old daughter of Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet isn't stopping there. She made her acting debut in the movie "No Reservations." She's for sure one to look for in the coming year!

HILARY DUFF

Love love love this girl's style evolution! This year we've been able to witness her growth as a person as well through her more mature style. A lot's happened including breakups, rumored eating disorders, her parents split, and her huge world tour promoting her new album With Love, and through it all she seems to have stayed grounded and classy. Maybe it was the new brown hair? If not, one things for sure, this girl KILLED the style game in '07 and if I could steal (ahem*peek into*) anybody's closet it would definitely be hers!

KERRY WASHINGTON

OOoo Kerry! What a year it's been for this gorgeous femme fatal who has really come out of her shell and into the spotlight this year! If you've seen The Last King of Scotland, or this years I Think I Love My Wife, you know she is a very talented, versatile actress, but we're now discovering her fun and chic style. After her engagement to David Moscow ended this year, she let loose and has been spotted canoodling with George Clooney at the Ocean's Thirteen premiere in Cannes, to Common on his video shoots. Ooh beeheyve Kerry!

Who knows what the coming year will bring for the actress who has been quoted saying :

I don't think I'm even close to fulfilling my potential. And I think also
that, unlike a pianist or a flutist, an actor has an instrument that is
constantly changing.

Well this is only part one of the list .....the top four girls and a special surprise are coming up...stay tuned!

Dayum

How HOT does Mischa Barton look in the latest issue of British men's style magazine ARENA!?
Some of her best shots yet. She should never go near bleach again! And she should seriously think of getting those legs insured! They're endless!

Do you're thing girl.
ARENA is a hilarious magazine potentially designed to enforce male stereotypes. I mean check out these 6 things they advise men to say to women. After all we women are "still essentially vain creatures."

1 Favourable comments about her appearance
As a rule of thumb, the vaguer the better – call her ‘beautiful’, ‘attractive’, ‘hot’, she will buy it. Hair is all right, or pick an item of clothing (the more ridiculously outlandish it is – bead-covered or high-heeled, let’s say – the more likely she is to be proud of it) to compliment both her appearance and her taste. Random comments are quite good; tell her you like her arms, ears, or knees and it’s so weird it seems believable.

2 Unfavourable comments about someone else’s appearance
Pick a woman that you both know and have seen recently. Confide that she “looks terrible”, “has been putting away the pies” or “got dressed in the dark” and your companion will preen. This is true of any woman except her mother, sister and best friend. She will enjoy it if you do it about her sister or best friend, but won’t be able to show it. She won’t enjoy it if you do it about her mother because that’s what she’s going to look like in 20 years.

3 “You remind me of someone… it’s Kate Moss”
One member of the Arena team is still recovering from the time a DJ called her ‘a cooler, smarter Lindsay Lohan’. It doesn’t matter at all whether she looks anything like her celebrity ‘doppelganger’ – your correspondent has been in the past compared to Cameron Diaz, despite bearing more of a resemblance to David Cameron – she wants to think she does, and that is convincing enough. However it is very, very important not to suggest a low-rent celebrity: Gwyneth Paltrow, Kate Moss and Jennifer Aniston are perfect; Jordan, Kerry Katona and Sporty Spice are potentially disastrous.

4 “I’m not hungry enough to eat this large bar of Dairy Milk”
You have probably been entreated to drink more water on the basis that you are made up of around 70% water. You might not realise, however, that your girlfriend is made up of around 70% cheap branded chocolate and needs to top it up with at least one bar a day. However pissed off she is with you, if she sees that flash of purple foil, she will want it.

5 “Look at this picture of a kitten that I just found!”
Or if she’s not a cat person, a puppy. Or a baby, preferably inside something weird like a plant pot or a sandwich. Even something really shit like a guinea pig is OK.

6 “I can’t use any lines on you”
If any of the above fails to work, you have a cynical bitch on your hands. She won’t trust a word you say. But because she thinks she is far too clever to fall for flattery, she is surprisingly susceptible to flattery about how marvelously perceptive and brainy she is.

Geez. I guess boys will be boys!

Recent Fabness

Lately it feels like I haven't been seeing a lot a unique amazing fashion, other than on street style sites. Everyone just looks pretty okay.....decent. But anyway, given what I've seen, here's a few of the best of the week.

Ah, Miss Vida Guerra famous music video....'dancer.' She kept her look simple in a figure hugging black dress, but nothing special. It's even a little see through, but I did love...

the shoessss....oooo. I don't even mind them with the fishnets, they look hot either way.

The American Music Awards were also a few nights ago, but no one looked amazing, or shocking. Almost makes you miss the days of showing up to award shows in biker chic a la Britney, or backward white tuxedos a la Celine Dion. Or where's Lil Kim with a scandalous ensemble when we need her? But anyway, Alicia at least looked very nice.
That's right 'Licia.... Work it girl. Give em the fierce eyes!
Beyonce performed with KILLER BALENCIAGA SHOES! Those are MY lego shoes girl!
Rocsi at a recent event looked good too! She was gorgeous in a beautiful golden yellow dress I would never expect her to wear. I mean, it's not a skin tight Baby Phat look she usually resort too, so nice change!
Egypt rocked this look at the same event. Love the black lace top, belt and satin skirt all paired with the leopard shoes. Classic with a little edge. Just my style.
This has nothing to do with fashion, but I thought I'd show you guys a future art piece for the mansion I'm going to be living in when I'm older. :) It's a modern take on an old piece by an artist named Matt Bilfield. He calls it 'Peggy.'

XOXO

Hello dahlings! You know what, this blogging thing is harder than it seems, and I just wanted to give props to all those who blog every. single. day. You know who you are. Good job guys and keep it up, because I love your blogs!
Now on to the fab,
first of all who isn't in love with Gossip Girl?!I loveee this show! I read the books once in a while in high school but I'm loving the show, despite past rantings. Erm, clearly I've changed my mind and this show is taking over the world!! Well, maybe just my world. But what I especially love is obviously, the fashion. This was Serena and Blair walking around Manhattan (given that they were on set, yes, I felt their character names were appropriate). They both look adorable. I love Blair's bright red accessories and their Chanel shoes. And even though I don't really like the zebra print Gucci Indy bag, it's still an Indy bag and therefor I am jealous.
On to this weeks fabulousness. How cute was Ashlee Simpson at her CosmoGirl celebration? She looked very pretty, but with her trademark rocker edge. Plus her hair and her makeup was simple and clean, unlike Pete's usual self. Good move goin' solo. Okay just ignore Alicia's minor one in a thousand fashion faux pas and concentrate on Jessica. She usually looks like a granny, but this outfit is really nice on her. I have a skirt just like that, and never thought of wearing it that way, but it's a definite possibility.Tia Mowry also looked amazing at a recent event. Her detailed dress, navy shoes, smoky makeup, matching nail polish, erm fierce pose EVERYTHING IS FLAWLESS.

And just for the guys.....

...a lil Hiedi Klum and strategically placed photoshoped sheets. Hot. Now were did I put that gym card....

...oh, got a little distracted by the fierceness that is COCO ROCHA! If I ever met this girl, I swear I would probably go into groupie mood, no doubt.

And to end this random rambling post, a pic of my new fav celeb couple Alexis and Kanye:

They were all over New York, Paris, and Milan fashion week and have style coming out the rear. Our prayers go out to Kanye at this time on the loss of his mother recently. There's a lot of speculation as to what happened with the surgeon and everything, but I hope everything turns out alright for the family.
