Coco Chanel

Loves. It.
This picture is beautiful, it was in the Spring 2007s Time Magazine but I only spotted it recently. Dammit if your name is Coco it definitely can't hurt your modeling career to hook up with Chanel Iman.

BET Awards BEST

Instead of going through the good, the bad, and the incredibly ugly like I was going to do, I decided on just showcase my favourite looks from the BET Awards 2007.

Keyshia Cole

She looked really good in this assymetrical dress. It wasn't too revealing, but enough to show off her amazing body. Who knew? I usually can't get past her bright orange hair.

Rihanna

Rihanna looked incredible. This dress fits her perfectly and I love how she makes the look stand out with minimal jewelry and nude shoes. The bright white is also perfect for spring. We need to let go of the black, grey and brown and embrace the few months of summer we have! Thank you Rihanna for pointing that out.

Eva

When I saw this dress, I honestly said WOW out loud. I LOVE IT! It's bright, fresh and vibrant and she looks like she just came back from a vacation to the Islands. The hair, bangles, and soft makeup complete this killer look.

But my Best Dressed award for the night goes to...

Kelly Rowland

This girl KILLED IT last night. She looked unbelievable, much better than Beyonce or Michelle (not like anybody's comparing or anything..). Her body looks amazing in this brown/ mauve dress. I love the earrings, the feathers, the shoes, the hair, everything! Which is probably why she is my best dressed.

What did you think of the award show arrivals, who were your Best Dressed?

Only Beyonce

could make an outfit like this work for her!

I personally love it when I see runway looks brought to real life, because then you know it wasn't just an outlandish piece only for the stage, but an actual wearable trend you'll soon see in a store near you. Fashions for the wealthy and the people. But I definitely didn't think these $100 000 Balenciaga pants would be one of those items.

Here was Miss Beyonce herself in head to toe metallics (her weave a shade of copper non?) during her performance at the BET Awards last night in Los Angeles. She loves showing off her curvy figure, so it was no wonder she chose these obviously form fitting bold pants. This was her look the previous year:Yup, the girl knows what she likes. They look this year was amazing on her and the outfit (even though the top looks like it's falling) was perfect for the opening performance.

I didn't think people could even WALK in these pants, let alone DANCE in them. Honestly the models were struggling on the runway. They made this the mandatory walk for all the models throughout the show just because of these pants! I kid, I kid. Props to B for working it out on stage. This is model Raquel Zimmerman going through the extensive process of putting on these pants, but with a smile on her face.

The final product looked amazing.

Born to Blossom, Bloom to Perish

Garden? Check. Platinum Blonde? Check. Usually lifeless object turned into fun character? Check. I knew I'd seen the following spread in Glow Magazine from somewhere! This springtime editorial was most likely inspired by either Gwen Stefani's video What You Waiting For, or by Alice In Wonderland....or is that the same thing?

I really love this first picture the most. It make me want get a white dress and crown, run to the fountain at the park near my house and take some fierce pictures. I'm even growing to like those clear Chanel shoes from the SS07 line, even though they're everywhere. This model is definitely working the look, but what's with the ribbon?

Street Cheek

" Punky electronica, kind of like new wave grime, but kind of maybe more like broken beats, like kind of dubby broken beats but a little bit kind of soulful, kind of drum and bassy, but more break beat."

Coat: Chanel, $4,980
Silk Dress: Betsey Johnson, $320

I really like Lily Allen.
I think she's fresh and cool and her CD was on repeat for about two days straight in my room. Her look is cute and clean with her doll face, heavy bangs, and addiction to trainers. She (clearly) loves dresses, but I wouldn't consider her a girlie girl.

She's gotten a lot of press lately about breakdowns and cancelling her US tour, but for some reason I've kind of blocked that out. Sometimes I'm in denial about what some celebs say or do, and still really like them *cough Lindsay Lohan*.

Here she is photographed by Melodie McDaniel in the latest Elle Magazine.

Wool and Mohair Sweater: Prada, $1,165

Red Wool Trench Coat: Jean Paul Gaultier, $1,900
Velvet Dress: Jean Paul Gaultier, $1,560

Plaid Tweed Coat: Chanel, $3,700
Necklace: Chanel
Wool dress: Sonia Rykiel, $1,165
Gold bangle: David Yurman
Sunglasses: Ksubi Eye
Satin pumps: Christian Louboutin

Plaid Wool Trench Coat: Jean Paul Gaultier, $4,135
Belt: Chanel

No Bra, No Panties

Et Tu Ashley?
Who would of thought this damn celebrity no underwear syndrome would hit you too? I don't care if you were going out for 30th cup of coffee that day...Ashley, please...never again...

Gianfranco Ferre

Italian fashion designers Donatella Versace, left, and Valentino arrive at the San Magno church in Legnano, Italy, Tuesday, June 19, 2007 to attends Gianfranco Ferre's funeral. Ferre', known as the 'architect of fashion' for his structured, sculpted shapes and his groundbreaking tenure at Christian Dior, died in a hospital in Milan on Sunday. He was 62.

Is There a such thing as TOO Gorgeous?

If so, this dress is it.
Hmm, who wore my future Versace dress better? Model Daria Werbowy or Jenifer Aniston?

Take It to The Streets

First off, my lack of posting is atrocious. My apologies.
Sunday night was the Much Music Video Music Awards in Toronto. It's one of the most laid back and fun award shows I've ever seen. It's so funny to see the look of shock on celeb's faces when they see the fans only two metre's away from them on the red carpet screaming!
The fashion's match the vibe (it's more 'about the music'), so I'm letting you know now not to expect beautiful Dior or Balenciaga gowns to follow, it's more like converse and dirty white t-shirts.
Exhibit A. Really Avril. Did she have some prier engagement? Some hideous skirt convention she had to go to? Thanks for reppin' the nation, but next time tone down the fourteen year-old skater girl look. She was so cute when she was accepting her award though, she starting crying! By the way, if you haven't seen the Girlfriend Remix video with Lil Mama watch it here:

Love the rock hip-hop mash up.

Thank gawd somebody came to work today. Hilary Duff looked young and fresh in a See by Chloe trapeze dress and sparkling Christian Louboutin heels.

Tara Reed looked somewhat decent in a blue and black floor length dress. I think the colours were off and the dress was body tight, not flattering. But it is an upgrade from her usual styles in which she looks like and incubus of virile plague.

Fergie Ferg was the first on the red carpet and looked great in all black throughout the night.

Tyra's sidekick and host of Canada's Next Top Model Jay Manuel was there all glittery and shiny. But best dressed guy I would have to say is Much host Devon.
P.S. Sorry for the grainy pictures, but they're from the newspaper. And If you recognized The Devil Wears Prada lines, that's because I'm watching it right now!
'Floarls. For spring. Groundbreaking.'

Not Fashion Related

It's a boring summer day in the burbs (35Degrees!) and M & H ( I'm not going to be cheesy and type H & M) are in H's backyard reading magazines and mindlessly browsing the Internet. Ahh...unemployed student life.

H: I need a job.

M: You have a resume?!

*H makes a "very funny" face*

M: Why work in the summer when you can frolic on the beach for four months??

H: Because I needs me some monAYE!

M: I thought that new Forever 21 called you?

H: Yeah, but it's not opening up till end of June.

*side note: The second Canadian Forever 21 is finally opening in Toronto, and everyone is really excited to see what all the American girls are fussing about! Including me, and my friend who is working there*

M: You don't even know if you'll like working there. It's gonna be MAD busy!

H: You assume I'll be a hard worker. And I'm not a whore for money. Your mistake.

M: Omg, this is so funny, the pentagon created a
Gay Bomb! Its got these chemicals that's suppose to turn the enemies gay and make them so attracted to one another they forget about what they're doing. They spent 72 million on this!!

H:That sounds like something a 10 year old would come up with!

M: pfft! I know!

H:Whatever. I'm so proud to be Canadian.

M:In other news, Lindsay's mom is a liar. She keeps telling people she was a former
Rockette, but apparently it was all a lie.

H: No no, she was misquoted. She meant rocket SCIENTIST

M continues on to fashion blogs, and H begins humming Liar Liar Pants on Fire. This conversation probably sounds really strange to an outsider, but thinking back I thought it was soo funny and tried to remember it word for word. Since I now feel like I need to discuss something fashion related, I will now post these pictures I found from Cover Magazine of some ANTM winners:

Danielle Evans, CariDee English, Naima Mora

Bre Scullark

Danielle

My my Danielle, what long legs you have!

Karl Lagerfeld commenting on ANTM and Project Runway in the September 2006 issue of Harper's Bazaar calls it "trash that is funny for five minutes if you're with other people. If you're alone, it's not funny. Those girls will never be the next Gemma Ward. (Who herself was involved in a similar show, Australia's Search for a Supermodel) There is no justice in the fashion business."

The Future Is Now

The usually well tailored fashion conscious Mr. Fonzworth Bentley has put his unisex stamp on one of today's trends. It seems Mr. Bentley (cool name eh?) has been flipping through the latest magazines and seen something he likes: high waisted pants! When I saw this picture of him in what some people have deemed "mom" pants, I was so shocked! I mean sure we as women have certain menswear looks we stole, but I had no idea men were watching what we wore as well!

So do you think he pulls it off, or he should never attempt this look again?

I guess it is better than how the majority of guys wear their pants almost at their knees. I'm not sure if it works, but the entire outfit makes him look like a half finished candy cane! You know, how the red comes off?

Project Runway

..is coming to CANADA!! Yes, I know we are constantly jacking television ideas (i.e. Canadian Idol, Canada's Next Top Model etc etc), but I still can not wait to watch Project Runway Canada! Not only is it all new Canadian designers, but Iman is the host! The $100 000 CND prize is good, but coming face to face with her would be enough!
She was here in Toronto recently to announce she will host the show set to air in October on the Slice Network. Heidi Klum, host of the original Project Runway, heard about the Canadian versian and reportedly suggested the role to Iman. Iman was thrilled at the new challenge, packed up her 6-year -old daughter (leaving husband David Bowie behind in NY) and headed up north to Toronto. Um...I don't know how Iman and Canada are connected, but I don't care! Yay for Iman! I will begin operation Track-Down-Iman-Or-The-Production-Crew-For-That-Matter as soon as shooting starts in mid-June.

"I've already bought every book there is on Toronto. And I definitely want to go to Niagara Falls, which I've never seen. ...Yes, I'm a shopper, but I am not interested in the labels that I can find in New York. I want Canadian!" -Iman

Dress It Up, Work It Out, Show Them Celebs What You're All About

Rihanna preformed last night at the MTV Movie Awards, and besides the cRaZy makeout scene by Will Farrell and Sascha Baron Cohen (they won Best Kiss), it was the only exciting part of the show. Which isn't saying much since she simply pranced back and forth across the stage swinging her umbrella...ella...ella.......eh?
She's never dressed her age. I thought her little dominatrix outfit was EXTREMELY daring for this 17-year-old diva, but I guess it was the perfect outfit for MTV. If all the little metal detail was taken off her skirt, it would be much better. My advice to her is to not take her cues so literally from Madonna.

Update: Sorry, someone just let me know Rihanna is actually 19.

Ahem

Our regularly scheduled fashion musings have been temporarily halted due to the following Coco Rocha moment.

Coco and her good friend South African born Behati

With Jessica White and ...Susan Surandon??

I really think she's an amazing model and has worked hard to get to here she is now. Plus she's gorgeous. If you have even a little interest in her, watch this VIDEO from Fashion Television and you will fall in love with this girl.
She seems to have a good head on her shoulders. And don't mind the 'fierceness' she brings to the catwalk, she's the Cameron Diaz of the modeling world, she doesn't take herself too seriously. I know because I'm her friend on Facebook! Hahahah! But seriously, she seems cool from her pictures and gives a behind the scenes look into eVeRyThiNg!! Including just chillin' in hotels, the Costume Gala (which she titles "The Mets"), and even her prom.

Thank you for your patience.
This has been a Coco Moment.
Now back to our regularly scheduled blogging.
